Overview
Founded in the late 1920’s, the Centre Grey Hospital was a community-based Hospital located in Markdale, Ontario. On September 24, 2023, the New Brightshores Health System Markdale Hospital was opened to the public. This new state of the art facility provides care to over 20,000 people living in Grey Highlands, Southgate, West Grey, Chatsworth and the villages of Dundalk, Flesherton, Melancthon and Markdale. The Brightshores Markdale Hospital is part of Brightshores Health System.
Brightshores Health System Markdale is one of the leading employers in the region with approximately 100 full and part-time staff members including nurses and allied health professionals. The hospital provides a full range of medical services including 24-hour emergency care, acute hospital care, palliative care, diagnostic imaging, physiotherapy, endoscopy services, ambulatory care, including weekly Skin Cancer Clinic, and laboratory services for the community. Visiting specialists provide orthopedic, and general surgical consults. Clinical nutrition, and diabetes care are examples of the diverse services available.
